It was always nice to have Mike fly by you in a race at three times your speed and offer a kind word and encouraging comment. His smile was infectious, and his great attitude made everything seem a little easier. So sorry his child won't know him, but I know Mike's spirit will live on in his baby and in those of us who remember him so fondly.
Ride on Mike. I only knew you as a competitor (RAAM, 24HOM), but it was clear that you were class. Gone too soon. God's Grace to you and blessings to your family.
It is amazing all of the support our family has received. Mike certainly did touch so many lives. I am his cousin and because we lived in Phoenix until recently I didn't spend a lot of time with him but was at the memorial and saw the community outpouring in person. Thanks so much to all who have come together for Mike, Maribel, Mike's parents Jack and Lynne, and his brother Jeremy.
O' Great Spirit, Whose voice I hear in the winds, And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me! I am small and weak, I need your strenght and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy, myself. Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes. So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
